Show-off your kayak, paddleboard, or canoe and tell us why you'd recommend it.

Here's my primary, a Delta 12.10. I recommend it because of how light it is, being only 31lbs. It's 12.5' long, which is just enough for bays, but great for lakes and rivers (like the Delaware). The plastic is a little softer than others, so you may want to be careful with rocks.

May be an image of lake and nature

Old Town Sorrento 106SK. It's only 10 feet long, which lets you paddle small creeks, but has a drop down skeg if you want to take it out on bigger water. Light weight and a super comfortable seat. I put that thing through the ringer and it still looks great! Also comes in a 12 foot model, the 126SK.

I have a perception 9.5 ft sit in kayak. I am a beginner and favor calm waters. I have done the Barnegat Bay when I first started in 2018 but the jet skiers made me too nervous. Until my brother moved to Florida,  we would go to Neptune and do the Shark River to Belmar and back. We got there at 5:30 am and were in the water by 6. It was so peaceful.

My primary is a Dagger Axis 12, which is great for lakes and rivers, has a height-adjustable back-rest & drop skeg which when up make it feel like a 10ft boat and can turn on a time, but with the skeg down feels like a 14ft and tracks straight. It has a roomy cockpit for larger paddlers (like myself).

I always liked how Bote's paddleboards looked. Eddylines are great as well, great purchase!

I love my Vibe Yellowfin 120!

I'm still a new paddler, and I originally started out in a 10 foot Pelican sit in. I loved it for introducing me to the water but it was a pain in the ass to fish from. I was already doing some research on sit on tops, and I knew right off the bat I was not going to manage wrangling around some 80-100lb kayak on the reg, which ruled out a lot of options.

I saw the Vibe Yellowfin in this color and I fell in love with it, and I love that its hull weight is only 66lbs (but feels heavier after a crappy day of fishing). I can cart it some distance with all my gear and it's still manageable. It's wide and stable but tracks really well, but still wouldn't recommend it for long distance paddling. I once did 7 miles at Split Rock and I thought I was gonna die - thank God there was no wind that day.

It feels like it was made for me and I have taken this thing everywhere. I'm just glad I nabbed it before they discontinued this color.

My two primary yaks are a 12' Riot Voyager and a 10' Pyranha Fusion. The Fusion provides more maneuverability and control in fast water. In addition it has a skeg for flatter water. The Voyager also has a nice rocker bottom for maneuverability. Its slightly longer for good tracking and has allot more storage space for cargo. The only downside it is a bit heavier.

Beautiful! Didn't know you also had the 15.5. How are you liking it? I'm adding a canoe to the fleet, but a sea kayak will most likely be next.

I love the 15.5   Can easily do a 15 minute mile still pretty nimble good secondary stability. Very confident in rough water.

I also have a canoe, but that only gets used for camping now.

    • Johnson Lake, Byram Township - 05.07.23
It's been a bit of a slow start for me this season, and I have really had to pick my spots.

This location was one of the last few I visited in the fall, and I went into this season not really having a plan on where I wanted to go first. Recently my daughter and I hiked near the area, after we had to abandon the Sussex Branch Trail near Cranberry Lake due to flooding.

Once I revisited from my hike I wanted to come back and fish it again. I had a window on Saturday morning before the winds were forecasted to come in, and off I went.

The lake was like glass in the morning, and was covered with a thin sheen of pollen & white snow - those white seed pods that always seem to be floating around every year during the first week of May; I don't know what they're called or what tree or plant produces them. All I know is without fail, this time of year there are several days with white things blowing around all day long. I told my daughter it always coincides with her birthday week

Was not expecting much due to the bluebird skies, but the pickerel certainly were willing enough, although several declined their photo ops with me. I only ended up with a couple and the bass weren't hitting much, but it was still an ok outing. It's early in the year, but the lily pads are already starting to come in pretty quickly. In another month or so this place will be a sea of pads, but there are still plenty of holes around to fish the edges.

There was enough water from the recent rains that I was finally able to edge into the northern section of the lake. My last few trips here there were a lot of visible stumps poking out above the water, and I believe it's the shallowest and weediest portion of the lake.

Looking forward to a few return trips here during the 2023 season!

    • White Lake Natural Resource Area
White Lake Natural Resource Area is located in Warren County, NJ. It is known for it's crystal clear waters, nicknaming it the Caribbean of NJ. The lake is very small and takes under an hour to circumnavigate. This lake is open from dawn to dusk, all watercrafts are allowed. It's a great beginner lake since it is one of the smallest public ones available.

Here is the Google Maps pin for the location.
