Milford Beach to Dingmans Ferry is approximately 8 miles in river length and would take around 3 hours (without stopping) to complete depending on river flow. You can plan for it to take 4-5 hours if you did it at a leisurely pace and stopped for lunch. Here's a hot tip: This section is easy to navigate. You're starting just before the 206 Milford-Montague Bridge down to just after the Dingman's Ferry Bridge. There are no bridges in-between, so use these as your landmarks. NJ Paddle's very first event was at Monksville Reservoir. Monksville is located in West Milford, New Jersey. A true gem in North Jersey. Where to launch? Monksville is known to be popular with paddlers, especially with the outfitter / rental in the south boat launch. South Boat Launch You will launch from the south end of the lake closer to the dam. Round Valley Reservoir is located in Hunterdon County. It's nicknamed the Bermuda triangle of New Jersey. Where to Launch? The easiest access point would be the boat launch on the north end of Round Valley. Here is the Google Map pin for the location. Permit Required This launch is managed by Fish & Game and requires a boat ramp maintenance permit or an active fishing license. This is actively checked Memorial Day to Labor Day. White Lake Natural Resource Area is located in Warren County, NJ. It is known for it's crystal clear waters, nicknaming it the Caribbean of NJ. The lake is very small and takes under an hour to circumnavigate. This lake is open from dawn to dusk, all watercrafts are allowed. Farrington Lake is located in Middlesex County, NJ. It runs along North and East Brunswick. Great for paddlers of all types, paddleboards are allowed here and it's a great place for inflatables. The lake is longer than it is wide. Where to launch? Launch 1 - there is a lot right in front of the utility lines that you can park. Here is the Google pin for this location. Here are some quick helpful tips on paddling at Spruce Run Reservoir located Hunterdon county. Directions: The Spruce Run Boat Launch is where you will want to go, here are the Google Map directions. Harmful algae blooms are becoming more prominent in New Jersey. As paddlers, it's our duty to report any that we encounter to help reduce the spread of a HAB. Blooms are caused by cyanobacteria which resembles algae (but isn't) and is toxic to people, animals, and the environment. These blooms occur more often during the summer or early fall. Cyanobacteria multiply when the water is warmer, stagnant, and rich in nutrients like phosphorus and nitrogen. These nutrients run-off into our creeks from fertilizer or septic tank overflows. These are the following places that do not allow paddleboarding in New Jersey. Please note that I am only talking about public bodies of water and not private lakes.
